Kayak the Root River

Join CrawDaddy’s expert guides on the timeless Root River in Southern Minnesota, where we will wind past towering bluffs topped with oak and hickory and experience superior scenery.

We will meet in the morning at CrawDaddy Outdoors in Waverly, and drive about 2 hours to our starting point. After dropping off gear and paddlers, we’ll quickly shuttle vehicles to our end point and return to the start where our adventure begins! We plan to be on the water at approximately 10 am and off the water by 4pm with a sandbar stop for lunch. This float is great for friends, family, beginners and anyone looking for a fun day on the river!

Feel free to bring your own drinks, lunch and snacks to enjoy on the water. Pit toilet facilities may be available at start and/or end points, but be prepared for wilderness bathroom practices on the river.

What’s Included: 

Professional instruction and guiding, transportation from Waverly, IA to the event and back, kayak, paddle, PFD, first aid kit, safety gear. If you’d prefer to bring your own kayak or gear, you are welcome to do so.

Skill Level:

Beginner. Plan to be on the water for about 6 hours with a mid-day for lunch on a sandbar. We plan to paddle in most weather conditions–rain or shine, hot or cold, windy or still.

Not Included:

Lunch, snacks, water or other beverages, optional guide gratuities, items of a personal nature.

Time: 7am-5pm

Registration is limited to 12 people. A minimum of 6 registrants is required to offer the trip.

We have intentionally limited the number of participants on our trips in order to provide a safe and rich outdoor experience.
