Paddle, fish and camp the Big Fork River in Northern Minnesota and immerse yourself in the beauty of this wild northern woods river. A forest of pine, spruce, fir, cedar, aspen and birch line the river edge with small farms scattered along the route. Your expert guide Darrin, has 20+ years of experience leading trips and wilderness adventures for a wide variety of people. He’ll bring knowledge, skill and a whole lot of fun to this wilderness experience!
Day one we’ll drive from Waverly, IA to our starting point, where we will camp the first night. The following morning we will set out on our journey. We plan to paddle 4 to 10 miles per day down the Big Fork River, camping each night at a different designated campsite. On the final day we finish our paddle and drive back to Waverly, returning late that evening.
Professional instruction and guiding, transportation from Waverly, IA to the Big Fork River and back, canoe or kayak, paddle, PFD, first aid kit, safety gear, camping and cooking gear. If you’d prefer to bring your own gear, you are welcome to do so provided it is appropriate for our trip.
We do our best to accommodate all dietary restrictions and preferences. Upon sign-up, you will receive a short questionnaire, to share these needs with us.
Canoeing or kayaking, fishing, tent camping
Some paddling experience required. Plan to be paddling a variety of river conditions for 4 to 6 hours per day. We will camp and paddle in most weather conditions–rain or shine, hot or cold, windy or still.
Tent camping with pit toilets
Fishing supplies, Minnesota fishing license, optional guide gratuities; items of a personal nature.
Limited to 10 people. A minimum of 5 registrants is required to offer the trip.
We have intentionally limited the number of participants on our trips in order to provide a safe and rich outdoor experience.
